The Sky Orchestra is an ongoing research project and experimental artwork bringing together performance and music to create visual audio installations within the air and within the mind. Sky Orchestra are developing music specifically for sleeping people which is delivered out of the sky. Created by artist Luke Jerram, the balloons take off at dawn and dusk with speakers attached, creating a massive audio landscape.
In collaboration with composer Dan Jones, Sky Orchestra will next perform in Derry, for the European City of Culture 2013.
In August, working with composer Christof Schlager The Sky Orchestra will also help launch the Helsinki Festival.
Touring since 2003, the last Sky Orchestra performance took place in London to herald a year to go to the 2012 Olympic Games. Read more and see video of performance here.
